New Toys

When you are a kid, the best part of Christmas is getting new toys! On Paper Issues, this month's challenge is to create a layout about something new, so this was an easy theme for me. I combined the topic with the sketch on Creative Scrappers for my layout.

Here's my result:

supply list: pp: DCWV, ep. tapes: Glitz, AC. stickers; BG, carta bella. ink: Stazon.

Joy

I completed a layout today with some of my favorite pictures from the Bellagio Gardens last December. We have a new tradition amongst the girls in the family to go see the Christmas display, have lunch, and maybe do some shopping.

I found a great sketch challenge at Paper Secrets when I was planning my layout. It uses the following sketch:

Here's my layout;

Supplies; cs:SC, pp: Pebbles, crate paper. stickers: Memories Complete, heidi grace, Little Yellow Bicycle. straws, twine: Queen & Co. clocks: Little Yellow Bicycle.

Yummy Life Documented

It's time for another challenge on Color-Me-Scrappy! Challenge #52 has a great color scheme of cherry reds and cool blues which provides lots of possibilities! The twist for this challenge is to create a page with a food theme or picture.

Here's the color palette:

And my resulting layout:

I tried to use a mask with white ink to make a clear and sharp arrow look pointing to the picture. The ink didn't turn out exactly as planned, but I like how it looked with the cork arrows on top!

Thanks for stopping by! Hope you join us on Color-Me-Scrappy with this challenge!

Simple Joys

Feeling extra scrappy this weekend! I decided to do another page today for the Scrap Our Stash and Creative Scrappers  challenges. For Scrap Our Stash, the challenge is to use a phrase about family or a family member that was provided on the blog and 4 photo corners. I created the page using the sketch on Creative Scrappers.

Here's my layout using Sei, mme, SC and Crate Paper pp. Frame; AC, die cuts: SC, heidi swapp, tape: Glitz, enamel dot: mme. ink: Ranger, chipboard; heidi swapp, and corrugated house: Maya Road. stickers: AC.

Remember This Moment

It's unusual for me to do a Halloween layout, but this one has a twist. As I was adding the title and journaling, I realized there was a deeper meaning for this page than just pictures of a party. I am going through a life transition; this party was a very nice distraction, and it helped me focus on having fun.....I can still have fun and be optimistic in the face of adversity (looming divorce). I am still ME!

I created this layout for challenge #17 on Paper Bakery. My supplies: SC cs, tag. pp: Crate Paper, MME, SC. brads: MME. ink: Colorsnap. tape: WeRMemory Makers, stickers: heidi swapp, simple stories, mambi.

using this sketch:

Here's my layout:

I like how I focused on what I was feeling, not just what I was doing! Thanks for stopping by!

Christmas Joy Joy

My son has the Christmas spirit year round. He wears his Santa hats throughout the year, but it really gets worn once the tree is up! After celebrating Thanksgiving, he came down the stairs wearing it. The season has officially started now!

The pictures were a little blurred because he refused to stand still for me. But, I love the spirit behind them, so I decided to use them any way.

This layout was inspired by the challenges on Paper Issues and Paper Bakery.

Here's the sketch from Paper Bakery:
 Here's my layout:

I used jillibean cards, Hot Off the Press papers, Maya Road chipboard titles with beads and fine glitter, a jenny bowlin card, and misc buttons and twine. Tapes are Queen & Co and Studio Calico.

Thanks for looking! I hope you have a wonderful holiday season!

Everyday is Saturday!

Wouldn't it be nice for everyday to be Saturday? I imagine that when you retire, it might feel like that! My mom just celebrated her retirement from 37 years of civil service. She had such amazing devotion! This layout commenerates
that day. I used the sketch from Paper Secrets and the challenge twist was to use clouds. I've used clouds on my paper and some stickers. No stormy clouds for her retirement!

Here's the resulting layout:

Color-Me-Scrappy Challenge #50!

Happy Anniversary Color-me-Scrappy! This is their 50th challenge, and it's a great one!

Here's the color scheme below. The twist: use texture, too!

It's so versatile. You may think of summer beach photos just due to the inspiration picture, but any topic will do.

Here's my layout with glitter beads and some stamping for texture.

Thanks for stopping by! Please leave a comment and participate in the challenge! You have until the end of the month to link your layout at Color Me Scrappy.

Destination Learning-Fall 2013

Last week, I received a terrific gift of two photos when JJ got home from school. They took his picture when he was working on the computer one day, and they captured him interacting with his teacher, too. I found some great challenges on my favorite blogs that inspired this layout. I blended two similar sketches to make my design. They are from Paper Secrets and Creative Scrappers. I also used my stash of 6x6 Jillibean papers with 6 wood vaneers. This was the challenge at Scrap Out Stash. Lastly, my overall theme is one of school, befitting a "Fall" challenge at Paper Issues!

Sketches:

And here's my layout:
I loved adding a touch of Blueberry color--my stickers, spray ink splatters, and misted vaneers. To color the other vaneers on this layout, I used Stickles!

November! A new challenge with Color-Me-Scrappy

November already? I'm not ready to put the shopping lists together for the holidays. Food shopping is first for Thanksgiving, and of course, all the gifts for December! I'm hosting Thanksgiving this year for my family, so it's my turn to do the main fixings!

To get the creative spirit started, how about a scrapbooking layout? It doesn't have to be holiday themed to get the creative juices going!

Here's the color palette and a sketch for extra inspiration! For the Design Team's interpretations, please visit Color-Me-Scrappy!

Here's my DT submission:

I had the opportunity to visit an on-line scrappy friend in person when I went to WA on a business trip, right in her home town! It was great to see Devra and talk about our sons for a while! Good times!

High Flying Fun

Challenge 48 on Color Me Scrappy brings you a great color scheme and a unique twist--use feathers on a layout. I chose to use feather rub-ons from Jenni Bowlin.

Here's the color challenge:
and my layout:

To carry the theme of the feathers, I chose bird and flying elements to go with my pics. Thanks for stopping by. You have until the end of the month to complete the challenge!

Happy Family--Christmas Layout

This weekend I got productive! This 2 pager satisfies three separate blog challenges! Page 1 uses a sketch on Paper Bakery, and Page 2 uses a sketch from Creating Keepsakes. I also used embellishments from my stash for the Tic Tac Toe challenge on Scrap Our Stash! For that challenge, I used washi tape, decorate pins and twine.

Here are the sketches used:

And the Tic Tac Toe game: I went with diagonal from top left.
And here is my resulting 2 pager! Supplies used: Studio Calico cs and pp, American Crafts pp, Studio Calico letters, We R Memory Makers photo frame/title and die cuts, Maya Road pins, Queen & Co dots and twine, Freckled Fawn star stickers, Recollections washi tape, Staz-on ink, 2 inch circle punch, scallop circle punch.

Boo Project

Halloween time! I look forward to seeing all the little kids dressed up and trick or treating. To get in the spirit, my friend and I went to a craft party and made these signs. I chose to use orange paint for the background with a black wispy border, and my friend used white letters on black paint.

Hope your Halloween is boo-tifully crafty!

Play Ball: Paper Secrets sketch challenge

On Paper Secrets, there is a great sketch challenge and it includes a twist--use dots and stripes. Yesterday was opening day for JJ's Miracle League Baseball, so I had fresh pics that were inspiring me! I had a great stash of "baseball" theme papers from SEI and Best Creations to use on this layout. I added a dotted banner that I think is BG.

Here's the sketch:

Here's my layout:
I rearranged the placements of the photos and paper strips, and I altered the circle element to be my title. I really like how it turned out. I used a piece of heidi swapp color me paper with Ranger Dyslusions spray ink in lemon yellow. It really pops with color and shines! The camera flair was purchased at Paper Secrets!

Home Run Smile--Color Me Scrappy

I'm a little late posting this, but Color Me Scrappy currently has a challenge out using this great color scheme.

To complete the challenge, add a bit of texture, too!

Here's my Design Team layout. For texture, I used some good old Magic Mesh to carry the dugout fencing from the photo to the layout. I also have twine around the flags, an acrylic raised sticker, and two of JJ's baseball cards to show the front and back.
