Mad for Manly Metals

Having no other girls in the house, I find that I need to create a lot of manly layouts. I really love this one I made yesterday. The photos were my inspiration. The title came to me as I was looking at the pictures, and I just had to scrap! My metal touches: a link chain, metal buttons, and studs on the title letters. I also grunged up the the pages by direct-inking everything! I like this one so much!

Focus on Family

My "One Little Word" for 2012 is FOCUS. When the stress gets out of control, I have to refocus myself on what matters most. Number one is my family. Even if things get busy, I can think back to a recent special time with them and feel better--more centered. Here's my June OLW layout for Club CK:

I used supplies from my June kit from Studio Calico, half of a die cut page (unknown designer--I know I bought a set on QVC years ago), and a soft embelli for my journaling tag. Thanks for stopping by and taking a look.

Stitching Memories

Adding stitches onto layouts puts a little more of the creator on finished layouts. It is another way to put a personal stamp on the documented memories.

Scrapping from the Inside Out

The Scrapbooking from the Inside Out webpage and kit membership is very challenging. The journaling prompts encourage us scrappers to put our feelings and ourselves in our albums more. Here are two recent layouts I did for challenges on SFIO.  The first layout had a twist in the challenge to scrap without pictures. This was really difficult, but I did it! This was to document what gives me delight. The second layout is to celebrate my inner child. That picture is me at age 4! I was wearing one of my favorite dresses as a little girl. I loved the cherries on it, and I had the perfect cherry and cupcake items to go with a page.

Celebrate Silly Faces

This past weekend I celebrated JJ's silly faces captured on film. The non-perfect smile pictures should still be documented as part of life! No one smiles perfectly on every picture, and joy is shown with the biggest smiles that squish the eyes:)

Free Printables in Use

On this layout, I used a free printable offered through Creating Keepsakes Thanksliving! The "I Love" originally is green and brown, but I used black marker to change the color.  This layout uses the May Sketch it Sketch by Angela Horton. On this page, you can see the use of triangle design and the rule of 3's. I also used a black marker to faux stitch the x's around the blue print paper.

NSD Weekend in Review

I thought I would share all of the other layouts I completed for this jam-packed Big Picture weekend. On the previous post, I highlighted my favorite.

2) K & 8: This was a layout for Then and Now. On this layout, I sanded the die cut ruler to make it look more realistic. The arrow is lightly inked to give it some aging, too.

3) This was for the Reflective challenge on Big Picture. I used a self portrait mirror shot for this one. The die cut journaling tag had printed flowers on it which I added brads to give dimension.

4) I love this pattern paper with the circles! It reminded me of the gumballs.

5) I just love this film strip border from K & Co! I took some random photos when we went to the matinee to document our family movie days.

6) This was for a sketch challenge using this sketch:

7) This layout was for using 3 colors next to each other on the color wheel. I used yellow/green, green, and blue/green.

8) This layout challenge was to create a flag. I made three flags for the ferry boats on the dock. I included one of our tickets on the layout. Love using memorabilia!

9) This layout was created for the Pocket challenge. I loved this pattern paper! The green green grass in the main photo was my color inspiration.

10) This was the most challenging of all the challenges for me! It was to use a tossed aside item on a layout. This one just didn't come together for me. I'll probably re-use these photos in a different way.

11) This challenge was to document a childhood memory. I love this type of page. I enjoy creating pages with a vintage feel and documenting my childhood just as much as my son's childhood.

12) This page was used to show kraft in two ways on a layout. I used kraft paper, a kraft tag, and natural letters. I used a torn page to keep that "rough" look.
